The Quest for January 2001 I called Misleading Origins.
Seven items have different origins than the country or state listed.
The answers are:

My source says Vienna is the source of the English Horn, possibly
played first in France, but it could be
the origin is France.
German chocolate cake originated in Dallas, Texas.
As Sue noted, the name derives from Samuel German's brand of chocolate
used in the recipe.
The bittersweet chocolate was formulated in 1852;
the recipe appeared in a Dallas newspaper in 1957.
General Foods refined it with added coconut in 1958.
The February 2001 Quest
will be to find what is the commonality of the following eight persons.
You need not get them all to deduce the answer, but some of you
will want to dig out each one once you find the common theme anyway.
