The January Quest
dealt with seven countries which have something which most
countries don't, but in different amounts.
Had I included the United States with 50, it would have been
easy to deduce the answer.
The numbers indicate not states, but the numbers of stars in their flag.
Correct answers came from Jeff Lamb, Alma Litten, and Nick Wolf.
I originally came up with this while looking up something else in an
old World Atlas which included flags of each country.
Of even greater help was an excellent web site,
www.immigration-usa.com/flags/,
a subset of which has all countries' flags broken down into categories,
such as all those that contain stars.
![]() In lieu of a February Quest, I am including a version of The 2001 Year-End Quiz, used at the Mensa New Year's Eve party. See if you can get more than 23 correct, which was Bob Fritz's score on New Year's Eve. For the puzzle, click here .
