The April 2001 Quest asked to find the commonality of
these three:
Columbine,
Sacred Cow,
and
Independence.
All are presidential airplanes.
These three were the planes of Eisenhower, Roosevelt, and Truman,
respectively, although Truman also used the Sacred Cow for a while.
Columbine III and the other two are all currently in
the Air Force Museum in Dayton, as well as numerous other presidential
planes, including SAM 26000, which took President Kennedy on his
fateful trip to Dallas and on which President Johnson was sworn in.
Air Force I is now used to refer during flight to any plane
carrying the President.
A good historical account of presidential planes is on the Internet
at home.rose.net/~dingdong/Aircraft/PA01a.html.
SAM 26000 is a dead giveaway on an Internet search and so was not included.
Correct answers came from
Delmar Burkitt,
Alma Litten,
and
Bob Fritz.
The May Quest has several dozen potential names, but is an exclusive group.
Don't let appearances fool you, it's the voices that are important in this Quest.
It's not radio ... where have these famous persons been heard but not seen?
