Quest  —  by  Dick Nuenke

The October Quest asked to come up with the familiar name of nine artists.  Here they are in brackets:

Edmund Hartley [ Marsden Hartley ]
Marcus Rothkowitz [ Mark Rothko ]
José Victoriano Gonzáles [ Juan Gris ]
Vosdanig Manoog Adoian [ Arshile Gorky ]
Gaston Duchamp [ Jacques Villon ]
Emmanuel Radnitsky [ Man Ray ]
Ivan Gratanavitch Dombrowski [ John Graham ]
Piotr Sorckshabel [ Peter Blume ]
Le Douanier [ Henri Rousseau ]

I credit  Alma Litten  with seven of the nine, missing on Graham and Blume, probably the least known of the nine.

On the previous, September, Quest,  Wayne Dodge  had correctly identified "telescopes" as the category, but I failed to get his name in Col-M.

November's Quest could be a difficult one (I tried to make it that way), requiring a little of the "Aha!" phenomenon to stumble onto the answer.  Below are twelve words which have a particular property which is characteristic of all of them.  What is it?  (Hint:  Don't get "complacent" because that word doesn't quite make the list).

AWFUL DOES PALATE SIGH
BAYS GUILD PEAK SIGHTED
CHILI LAYS ROOMY TOAD
