Quest

by Dick Nuenke

The September 2001 Quest asked for the source of the fictitious telegram "FUGITIVE DEADBEAT NOT KILLER (STOP) GUMSHOE SAYS EVIDENCE FROM CORPSE PLUS ALIBI GIVE INNOCENT JUDGEMENT (STOP)".  All words over four letters (9 in number) are titles of Sue Grafton's mystery series, each book starting with a different letter of the alphabet and published alphabetically.  So I accepted Sue Grafton or her heroine as a correct answer.  A simultaneous Internet search for 3-4 of the titles will easily yield the answer.

Both Steve Herrick and Alma Litten came up with the answer.

For October I don't think the Quest is so easily searched.  What do the following twelve U.S. cities have in common that no other cities in the world have?

Atlanta Boston Chicago
Cleveland Dallas Kansas City
Minneapolis New York Philadelphia
Richmond San Francisco St. Louis
